When we become serious about improving ourselves, we typically start with basic changes—like brushing our teeth or waking up earlier than usual, but once. These initial adjustments make us feel better inside and positively influence our community. However, in order to sustain this momentum and improve every single day without relapsing into old habits, we must change more than just the surface level.
Becoming Catalysts for Positive Change
This internal transformation is necessary so that we become active catalysts for positive change. Such transformation allows us to be driven from our heart and mind rather than simply imitating others. Through deep internal work, we begin to see the wisdom behind the changes and take full ownership of our personal growth.
- Sustaining Momentum: Without internal transformation and a renewed mindset, outward changes will lack stability and eventually wither away.
- Full Commitment: Anyone seeking true self-improvement must be entirely serious and fully committed to implementing these changes within themselves, channeling their energy in the right direction.
Focusing on the Personal Journey
Many times we lose our way during this journey because we become distracted by what others are doing, rather than focusing on what is right for us. The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) taught that part of the perfection of a person's faith is leaving alone what does not concern them.
When everyone focuses on their own personal journey rather than policing others, we collectively see all-around positive change.
